A trip through Burgenland wouldn’t be complete without taking photos of storks. One can see their nests on many roofs in the easternmost state of Austria. Coincidentally, I found the nest with the most storks on top of a house that bore the name Burgenland.
‘Big’ surprise at a Heuriger in Burgenland: At the Schnitzelheuriger Posch I got this huge portion of Tafelspitz. If you would like to learn more about this traditional Austrian dish have a look here: Article on Wikipedia.
After staying a night in the attic of a former border station (‘Altes Zollhaus’) I had this great view from my room early in the morning. There was a kind of silence in the scenery. Only a rooster crewed from time to time.
At Schloss Deutschkreutz (Deutschkreutz Castle) I had a guided tour by its owner Anton Lehmden. The artist Anton Lehmden is member of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism and is presenting many of his works in the rooms of the castle.
Lets play ‘Guess the movie’! This photo was taken at that castle where I created a painting with some coffee and gold leaf. There is still some gold at my finger so about which movie I am speaking?
After taking a lesson in making Latte Art I did it again: Making art with coffee. At Lockenhaus Castle I took a class in painting with coffee and gold run by the Austrian artist Stefanie Moro.
At Lockenhaus Castle I stayed at the room ‘Elisabeth’. Whereas the furniture was old fashioned, the bathroom was pretty modern. It was a corner room so I had a great view of the place Lockenhaus and parts of the castle itself.
‘The early bird gets the worm’ but the early cat gets the breakfast! A fun experience while staying in Kukmirn, a pretty rural place in the Austrian state Burgenland.
At the hotel & distillery Lagler located in Kukmirn I took a lesson how to distil schnaps. For example I learned about the right temperatures (very important!) during the process and how to define the wished percentage of alcohol in your own schnaps.
The first stop of our creative tour through Burgenland was a coffee shop in Oberwart. At the stylish Stromberger Coffee to Go we had the chance to watch how to make Latte Art.
While I was trying to make some peaceful art like a painting several ladies of my group were interested to make something more adventourus. They joined a lesson in creating art with a chain saw instructed by Michael Schlapschy. After finishing my painting lesson I was curious to see how the ladies created things like racks for DVDs just by a tree trunk and a chain saw. More…
Right below the walls of Lockenhaus Castle (Burg Lockenhaus) in Burgenland, I took a class about working with acrylic paint led by Elisabeth Holzschuster. Well, how do you like my first work? It is named ‘Blue car on a rainy day’.
