When I was a child I used to watch fairy tales on TV every Christmas season. Generally these movies were taken in Czech Republic. Many years later I still remember the plots of these tales like ‘Three hazelnuts for Cinderella’, ‘Pan Tau’, and ‘Arabela’. What about your memories?

On my train journeys through Austria I often pass Burg Klammstein (Klammstein Castle) which seems to block the Gasteinertal (Gastein Valley) in the north. Actually it was meant as toll station in earlier times. Today it houses a museum about the history of the castle and the valley.
People generally love to take photos of the front sides of palaces. I also love to take photos of the rear. I took this photo while walking through the lovely park next to Schloss Esterházy (Esterházy Palace) in Eisenstadt.
At Schloss Deutschkreutz (Deutschkreutz Castle) I had a guided tour by its owner Anton Lehmden. The artist Anton Lehmden is member of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism and is showing many of his works in the rooms of the castle.
After walking through the Templar museum at Lockenhaus Castle I came across this mysterious room. It is supposed to be have been a sacred site of the Templars. Other voices say it is just a cistern. Anyway, the museum about the history of the Templars is worth a visit though.

Lockenhaus Castle houses a breeding place for bats and an interesting exhibition about these animals. One of us even saw a bat in her room. Well, some of us joked it could also had been a vampire. Bah! There are no vampires!
At Lockenhaus Castle I stayed at the room ‘Elisabeth’. Whereas the room was old fashioned furnitured, the bathroom was pretty modern. It was a corner room so I had a great view of the place Lockenhaus and parts of the castle itself.
