Sundial at the old university of Salzburg

This fresco with a sundial is located on a wall of the old university at the Max-Reinhard-Platz. It was created by Georg Jung (1899-1957). The depictions refer to the four faculties of that university which was founded by Prince Archbishop Paris von Lodron in 1622.

The Rostock University, founded in 1419, is considered the oldest university in the Baltic Sea area. The depicted main building was erected in the years 1867 – 1870 and it is an example of Renaissance Revival architecture in Mecklenburg.
