The manhole covers in Kühlungsborn show the arms of the city. The coat of arms displays three silver seagulls in a blue field. The title Ostseebad refers to the fact that Kühlungsborn is a seaside resort at the Baltic Sea (Ostsee).

Hotel ‘Speicher am Ziegelsee’
Visitors find the Hotel Speicher am Ziegelsee in a former granary dating back to 1939. The edifice is situated next to a lake named Ziegelsee, which is why guests can reach the hotel by boat. The sign HOTEL SPEICHER is the name board of the boat station.
Sieben stolze Schwestern
This sculpture in Rostock City, named Sieben stolze Schwestern küsst das eine Meer (Seven proud sisters are kissed by one sea), dates back to the German Democratic Republic (GDR). At that time, it portrayed the seven countries surrounding the Baltic Sea.
Gothic Town Hall in Stralsund
The Gothic Town Hall in Stralsund dates back to the 13th century. You will find this iconic piece of architecture on Old Market Square. It is considered one of the most important secular buildings of northern German Brick Gothic architecture.
Icebreaker “Stephan Jantzen”
This icebreaker was built in 1967 and is named after the sea rescuer Stephan Jantzen (1827-1913). The ship is off duty now. Although plans were to convert the vessel into a luxury icebreaker for private tours, it is still waiting for a new assignment at Rostock City Harbour.

Museum of local history in Warnemünde
The museum of local history (Heimatmuseum) is located in a building dating back to 1767. The exhibition tells about local life as well as about typical elements of a seaman’s life. So one can see collections of dioramas built by sailors. There are also souvenirs like English stoneware brought home from numerous sea travels.
Police boat FPB 25 (2001) in Rostock
This police boat was built by Fassmer in 2001. It is used by the German Police Authority Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The home port is Rostock. On this pic, it anchors next to the ‘Hohe Dünne‘ Yachting & Spa Resort.
Warehouses at the city harbour of Rostock
At the Rostock City Harbour you can find old as well as reconstructed warehouses. In the rooms of the warehouse on the left side the headquarter of AIDA Cruises is based. The piers for the huge AIDA cruisers are not far way at the port of Warnemünde.

Main building of the Rostock University
The Rostock University, founded in 1419, is considered the oldest university in the Baltic Sea area. The depicted main building was erected in the years 1867 – 1870 and it is an example of Renaissance Revival architecture in Mecklenburg.
Astronomical clock in St. Mary’s Church, Rostock
This astronomical clock was built in 1472 by Hans Düringer and is the only one of its kind still in working condition with its original clockworks. It is placed in St. Mary’s church (Marienkirche), the biggest of three town churches found in the Hanseatic city of Rostock.
