The Hotel Tauernstüberl in Zell am See used socks as “Do Not Disturb” signs for a long time. That’s a kind of pun. In German, “You are a lazy sock” means you are lazy. So, this lazy sock doesn’t want to be disturbed right now.

Right next to the railway station of Zell am See, you have this view of the Zeller See (Lake Zell) and the mountains nearby. Though the lake is large, it completely freezes in winter and is used for winter sports.

In addition to many cosy rooms, the Hotel Tauernstüberl offers a number of apartments with a gallery. You find the hotel not far from the famous narrow-gauge Pinzgau Railway. This railway transports the hotel guests to the Krimml Waterfalls on the spot.

You find this sundial on a building in the Austrian city of Zell am See. A rooster and an owl represent morning and evening. Whereas the painting seems modern, the town offers several buildings dating back to the Middle Ages.

Near the worth-seeing museum of local history at Ritzen Castle (Schloss Ritzen), you find the Ritzensee. It is an artificial lake built in a moory landscape. That way, the lake appears in a unique dark colour.

The hotel is placed near the centre of Saalbach. The owner is not only a good chef but also a good teacher in painting. The hotel offers packages for people who are interested in to improve their skills in painting. The classes take place in a dedicated atelier next to the hotel.

Mural dating back to 1810 seen in Saalbach, Austria. The mural is named Jägerbegräbnis and shows an odd funeral procession. The body in the coffin is a hunter (german: ‘Jäger’), the mourners of the funeral (german: ‘Begräbnis’) are animals. Have you ever seen such a mural or painting elsewhere?
At the museum of local history, I was told about the big influences which have shaped Kaprun and its surroundings.

A steam locomotive known as Mh.3 seen in Krimml. The locomotive was built in 1906 and is still used for classic train trips organized by Club 399 along the railroad of the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn.

While heading to Gerlos by car I came across this steam train using the railroad of the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn. The train maintained by Club 399 was drawn by a steam locomotive named Mh.3 built in 1906.

After having a snack with a tasty piece of local butter produced with a mould I visited this museum about traditional farmer tools located at an alp named Fürthermoar Alm.

Traditionally the butter in the alps is made by a butter mould (Buttermodel). After my trip to the huge reservoirs in the mountains near Kaprun, I had lunch at a nearby farmhouse and came across this fine modeled piece of butter.
