Graz is the capital city of the Austrian state of Styria. The historic centre and Eggenberg Palace are inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. In 2003, Graz became worldwide known as the European Capital of Culture.
One of the attractions of Graz is its roof landscape. It played an important role in being awarded the title of World Heritage Site. The sea of red roof tiles is particularly impressive in the city centre.
The landmark of the city is the Uhrturm. A lovely view of this attraction offers the Hauptplatz, the main square right in the middle of the old town.
By the way, the local city arms are easy to spot. You see them on the manhole covers in the streets of Graz.
