A pretty special hiking trail in Austria is the 1. Wiener Wasserleitungsweg which leads along the water supply line from the mountains of Lower Austria down to Vienna. So one can learn about the sources of Vienna’s water just by following a path.

This footbridge in Payerbach, generally known as Parksteg, was built in 1903. It is a combination of concrete and a railing in the style of Jugendstil. I was especially impressed by the idea to create the ornaments by using cast concrete.

At the Kunsttischlerei (cabinet maker) Potzmann I got in touch with Mr. Franz Potzmann who is not only a restorer for furniture but also offers lessons in restoring furniture yourself. After a small interview in the garden of his house, where also his lessons take place on sunny days, I had the chance to polish a small box myself.

The emblem of Bad Aussee is showing two vats for transporting salt (German: ‘Kufen’) and a char (German: ‘Saibling’). The vats refer to the salt production in Bad Aussee. The char is a tasty food fish which is featured by the Austrian ‘Genussregion Ausseerland Seesaibling’.

Höch Caste (Schloss Höch), first mentioned in the 11th century, offers a nice view over the Flachau area. Inside there is a big salon with a splendid decoration made of wood. Owned by a shareholder of a pit (‘Gewerke‘) for a long time it serves as a venue for cultural events now.
